Childcare Provision Update

Childcare provision from Monday 23rd March onwards

Further guidance from the government has now been published. (Please appreciate that schools receive the guidance as the same time as every else!)

The government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend. The fewer children making the journey to school, and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society. Schools are, therefore, being asked to continue to provide care for a limited number of children - children who are vulnerable (ie those with EHCP or social worker) and children whose parents are critical to the Covid-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.

If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.

If your work is critical to the COVID-19 response, or you work in one of the identified “key worker” sectors, and you cannot keep your child safe at home then your children will be prioritised for child care provision.

Childcare for children of key workers and vulnerable pupils

Usual school hours, Monday - Friday 8.50am – 3.15pm. Lunch will be provided for the children.

Entrance to school will be via the car park and hall doors.

If you need wraparound care to enable you to get to /from work please speak with the school office today.

Please note you must have confirmed your child’s place with the school office today, giving

your child’s /children’s names and parent’s/parents’ names and parent’s/parents’ jobs and employer so we can arrange staffing and food – you cannot just turn up on Monday!

Contact Details & Parentmail

Clearly effective and accurate communication is vital at this time.  Communication to parents from school will be through parentmail and our school website.  It is essential that we have all of your correct telephone and email contact details for all of this to work. Please contact the office if you are unsure about the details we hold. If you do not have access to the internet please contact the school office 01737 762080 to discuss how we can best maintain good communication with you.

Activities for the children to do at home will be on our school website ready for Monday.

We thank you again for your patience, understanding and support at this difficult time.

Thank you, too, to St Matthew’s staff who have been amazing and “going the extra mile” for our children and families.

Hopefully it won’t be too long before we can all be back together as a school community.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs J Lightfoot
