Physical Education (PE)

Physical Education plays a vital role in a child’s physical, cognitive, social and emotional development.  All pupils have two lessons of Physical Education a week and concentrate on core skills through our ‘Real PE’ lessons, balanced with the more traditional sports in Key Stage 2.

We promote an active and healthy lifestyle and encourage our pupils to have the motivation, confidence, physical and social competence to maintain an active, healthy attitude throughout life.

All pupils in KS2 swim for 1 and a half terms each year as part of our Physical Education programme.  Our highly qualified swimming instructors from Swimsense Swim School teach in age and ability appropriate groups, concentrating on improving water confidence, stroke technique and water safety skills.  All pupils aim to swim at least 25m by the end of Year 6 which is the National Curriculum expectation.  In addition to swimming lessons, we take part in school swimming galas and compete at District Level.
