School Priorities 2023-24

Our key improvement priorities for the forthcoming year are as follows. Everyone in our school community - leaders, staff, governors, MAT, pupils and parents - has a key role to play in ensuring our school provides the very best for our children, enabling them to achieve well.

PRIORITY 1 Ensure high standards and an ambitious curriculum - overseen by Mrs Penfold and Performance and Standards Governor Committee

  • To raise standards and close gaps for all groups of pupils through quality first teaching and interventions
  • To raise standards for all pupils, with a particular focus on vocabulary (Ofsted Action point)

PRIORITY 2 Promote positive attitudes to learning - Overseen by Mr Hill and Faith and Community Governor Committee

  • To ensure pupils speak confidently and positively about their achievements, experiences and one another

PRIORITY 3: Promote St Matthew’s widely and proudly so that we become a school of choice for staff and parents – Overseen by Mrs Baillie-Young and Finance Governor Committee

  • Ensure standards, in all areas, are high so that St Matthew’s is highly regard in the community and is the school of choice for local people
  • School to be fully staffed and prepared in the event of staff moving on

PRIORITY 4:  Review SEND systems and processes in light of new KS1 centre – Overseen by Mrs Lightfoot and Governor Performance and Standards Committee

  • KS1 centre to run successfully
