Supporting Your Child's Learning
We know that a child learns best when there is a strong relationship between school and home, helping to build their confidence and nurturing a love of lifelong learning.
There are many ways in which you can support your child’s learning at home to help them achieve their very best.
Talk about learning – Ask your child about their day. What did they enjoy? What did they learn? What did they find tricky? Talking to your child gives you a good insight into their day.
Read every day – reading is essential for academic achievement. Fostering a love for reading early on develops vocabulary, oracy, understanding and reading for pleasure.
Practise key skills – little and often is best and makes learning more fun when practising times tables, spellings, number bonds and reading.
Encourage independence – it’s ok to make mistakes! We learn so much from having a go, making mistakes and trying again.
Create routines – keeping to a routine will help your child get organised and establish good learning habits.
