Breakfast and After School Club

Breakfast Club

Many of the children at St Matthew’s, from nursery up to Year 6, enjoy attending our Breakfast Club, which runs each morning in the school hall, by our own school staff, from 8.00 am until school starts.

The children enjoy a healthy, freshly prepared breakfast, consisting of cereal, porridge, toast, fruit, yoghurt, milk and fruit juice or water.

There are a wide range of activities on offer including colouring and drawing, puzzles, board games, reading, construction toys, as well as supervised games.

Children do not have to attend every day; we can take them in on a more flexible basis.

Breakfast Club costs £3.00 per child per day. This can be paid each day when the children arrive at Breakfast Club or weekly/termly in advance.

If you would like your child to have a place at the Breakfast Club, please go to the school offcice for a form to complete, which you should complete, sign and return to the school office.

Stars After-School Childcare Club

St Matthew’s School offers your child a chance to join our own after-school childcare club:  ‘Stars’, which runs every day in the Sun Class classroom. This facility is run by our own school staff, Monday to Friday term time only.

A variety of activities are offered, for example; craft, puzzles, games and sharing stories, together with use of the outdoor play area. The children are given a snack such as a sandwich (choice of fillings), fruit, a biscuit/cake and a drink.

Sessions run from 3.15-4.30pm and 4.15-5.30pm. The club costs £3.50 per session (£7.00 for both sessions). This can be paid termly, weekly or daily.  Childcare vouchers can be used.  (There is no reduction in cost for attending part of a session).

Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis although priority will be given to children attending both sessions.

Children are taken from their classes or clubs to Sun Class. Access for parents to collect children from Sun Class outdoor area is via the side ‘nursery’ path/gate adjacent to the staff car park.

If you would like your child to attend the ‘Stars’ after-school childcare, please book your child’s place at the school office (01737 762080) stating which days they will be attending. It is advisable to book in advance where possible, although bookings will be taken on the day, subject to availability of places.

Redhill YMCA

In addition to St Matthew’s own wide range of after-school activity clubs and Stars (see above), the school has an arrangement with Redhill YMCA to provide later childcare from 3.30pm – 6.00pm. The YMCA minibus collects the children from St Matthew’s each day at 3.15pm to take them to the After-School Club at the YMCA centre in Princes Road, Redhill. For £9.00 per day the children can enjoy a wide range of activities including arts and craft, sports, cooking and a weekly homework club supervised by YMCA’s team of qualified playleaders.
