Friends of St Matthew's (FOSM)

The Friends of St Matthews is our Parent Teacher Association. Everyone can be involved and contribute as much or as little as they are able. Our aim is to be inclusive and create a strong sense of community and support within our school, so whether you would like to be part of the committee or just help out on an ad hoc basis, we need you!

Recently our team of brilliant volunteers organised and manned the following:

  • Bonfire, Christmas, and Valentines theme cake sales
  • Gifted Christmas Crackers to all pupils for their school Christmas lunch
  • Christmas disco with pizza, lucky dip and glowsticks
  • Provided help making and sourcing Nativity Play costumes and props
  • A fantastic Quiz Night for parents with cash prizes for 1st and 2nd place

Our goal is to bring together the St Matthew’s school community and make great school memories for our children. we have such a strong and enthusiastic committee  who have helped raise money for the school through Cake Sales, School Discos, Quiz Nights, Movie Nights , CHRISTMAS FETES and Sunday Fun Days. The money raised with these events is being used to benefit all the children: FOR EXAMPLE, money was used to have a converted ‘Story Bus’ spend the day at the school during Book Week which provided interactive story telling  for each class and supported the love of reading across the school . We are your Friends committee and the more support we have from parents and carers the more we can do!

We are keen to raise some easy funds for school and have signed up to a couple of schemes you may be interested in supporting.

Easy Fundraising

We have now signed up to Easy Fundraising so you can raise money for St Matthew’s School every time you shop online with participating shops. Simply go to and look for the FoSM logo. Then follow directions to the shop or site you want to buy from and shop as normal. When you check out you’ll collect a free donation for the school. It doesn’t cost a penny extra! Since signing up with the scheme 6 months ago, St Matthew's parents and friends have raised a free donation of £148 for the school!

Scooters for Schools with Micro Scooters

Scooting is a healthy and fun way to get to and from school! St Matthew’s School has now been accepted into the Scooters for Schools scheme. You can now start earning money for our school with every order placed at Please quote code: 125235 when you order to get 10% given back to the school (at no extra cost to yourself). Happy scooting!

Dates for your diary:

Watch this space for more exciting, fun events for children and adults alike in the new school year....

Your FoSM committee will be back with more information in September!

How to get involved:

We would love to get as many parents and carers involved in Friends of St Matthews as possible. You can do as much or as little as you are able and we are always on the lookout for volunteers to help at the events we have in the pipeline!

We would love to hear from you, even if you are unsure at this stage whether it is something you want to take on. We are a very welcoming team and you don’t need any previous PTA experience to apply – we just need a little bit of your time and a ‘can do’ attitude!

If you would like any further information or simply want to drop us a line about how you could get involved, please contact any of the FoSM committee on  or visit our Facebook page
